Women are uniquely suited to be real estate renovators and investors, but what amazes me is how few are actually in the business.
I can understand why some women would say “no way am I cleaning another house”, especially since most of these high-powered career-focused gals have their hands full juggling their families, their jobs and their own homes!
I felt the same way when I first got started. I was a single parent, money was tight and I was building a small business that required a lot of my time and attention.
Today, I am so grateful that I didn’t let my fear of taking on “another house to clean” stop me from buying my first piece of property.
At first, I made all of the classic mistakes (don’t worry I won’t let you do the same)! I mowed the lawn myself, painted the apartments, cleaned the common hallways (I know you’re getting that feeling of dread in your stomach right about now) collected rent and paid bills.
Then property number two came along AND my business started to take off. Fortunately for me, I knew early on that I would need one or two people that I could call on to help me with these chores. I also knew I would need to hire folks to mow the lawn and to provide snow removal so I didn’t have to call someone each week to get it done.
My business continued to grow and so did my real estate investment portfolio.
I wasn’t in it to get rich quick. I knew that real estate investing was how the rich became wealthy and I knew that it was going to take a little bit of my time each month. But, I could very quickly see, the return on my investment was far greater than traditional returns on CD’s, Savings, IRAs, 401Ks, etc. The money I saw come in from owning real estate, blew the others out of the water!
Within 5 years, the value of the real estate I had bought had doubled in value. The passive income was strong and afforded me many luxuries. The wealth that I built from the properties I owned allowed me to retire comfortably at the age of 45 years old.
If I had not invested in real estate, I would still be working and probably making great money. However, chances are I would have been doing this well into my late 60’s early 70’s to achieve the same financial success.
My business made me great money, but owning real estate made me rich!

Ladies, learn what men already know about the business of investing in real estate. Start taking steps towards putting your hard-earned money to work for you. Many of us, who have had the privilege of raising children, say that “time goes by so fast” because it does! The same goes for owning real estate. A 15 year mortgage could be paid off just in time to send your son or daughter off to college, to pay for that place in the sun you always dreamed about or to take several vacations all of which will be funded by the pot of gold that grew from buying a few well selected pieces of property.
I am an ordinary, grounded and sensible woman who has achieved extraordinary results in my life because I have always had someone to encourage my personal and financial growth.
Let me know how I can help.
